This video is an extract from of a larger work titled Ruskin’s Ponds which is a comparative study contrasting Ruskin’s two ponds in the grounds of his two previous houses. One pond is situated in Ruskin Park, Denmark Hill , London; a busy urban park pond, the other one is situated in the grounds and gardens of Ruskin’s House at Brantwood, Coniston; a quiet rural woodland pond. The extract was taken at Brantwood where Ruskin built his Pond. The video explores movement, change and the transient qualities of light, it also engages with representation and abstraction as the clear image of trees reflected on the surface of the pond is intermittently disrupted as result of the wind.
