The film is presented in 7 sections comprised of films selected from those made between 1978-2020. They explore and celebrate the qualities of light and dark through the interrelationships of movement, duration, light and sound and in several sections, the absence of sound.
The sections have been intentionally placed in the sequence order to create contrast and difference in subject and in the representational qualities of light. An intrinsic aspect this film is time, and with each section filmed in a continuous long duration, they provide for the possibility of a contemplative and reflexive viewing experience.
The film continues my exploration and experimentation with landscape and environmental film concerned with observation and perception. It contributes to an ongoing philosophical film enquiry into the representation of space-time and an interest in the physics and metaphysics of light. This includes the ways in which through time changes in light, weather and season affect the way in which we perceive space and place in film.
